I might have one - will need to check.

Before you go fitting a replacment and breaking it again you need to resolve the cause of the problem. Chances are the engine mounts are shot and the engine is sitting at the wrong angle to the gearbox. You need to fit new mounts and line the engine and gearbox up so that the prop is not stressing the bellhousing.

It is just a bolt in thing, but if the front mounts sag (unlikely) or are Dai's poly ones (more likely) the back end will raise up. If the rear engine mounts can be flexed by hand without doing He Man impressions, they have gone soft (very likely, especially as the valver is heavier than the 1.7).

Also, the rear mounts should be at the bottom of the slots on the metal bracket, not any other position, which again means they have to be in great condition.

Okay thanks checked the mounts and they seem solid, may buy the uprated front ones though. Do you know anyone with a bell housing? Can't find one anywhere

I'm sure I will have one. I will check on Monday and get back to you.

Chris, I need to speak to you about getting a loan alignment tool to help save more belhousings getting destroyed.

And a proper set of instructions on how to do prop clamps up properly.

I do agree, though I think just the amount of movement of the engine on stock mounts when launching will fatigue bellhousings :s Yet to have conclusive proof of it, but I used to be able to get nearly 2" of movement by hand.
