Windscreen

Post by Roop » 05 Sep 2007 05:23 pm

I'm looking for a windscreen for my 3dr, mk2, GLT.

Not in a desperate hurry, but it's recently taken one pigeon too many. :(

Pretty sure all the screens are the same-well I'm hoping cos I got one for my mk2 from filthyjohn from a big bumpered model.

Will fit it one of these days

Before you attempt the job or get it done, the important thing to consider is your windscreen rubber and trim Roop. If it's broken, you won't get another from Volvo at all anymore, Pyro I think it was, happened to be lucky and when the fitter broke it found a replacement somewhere! And as mentioned, if the fitter breaks it......... you'll be a bit stuck. So if you get one from a scrap car, grab the trim and rubber too if you can remove them carefully.

On those lines, there were a few trim guys at the Romsey show me and Nick went to the other day, worth giving them a shout if you do need it, I have a leaflet or two here. Bascially they did random lots of trims, all of which could well be useful for something or other!

Cool! Thanks for the advice!

Assuming I bugger everything up and destroy part of the rubber trim, is it something that sould be bodged with loads of silicone?

When I had mine replaced I got a new rubber from Volvo and the fitter reused the original trim. The rubbers are still available but not sure about the trims as I've never asked
