Heater Motor Please

Post by nigelbi » 12 Oct 2007 03:06 pm

Hi, I'm after a heater motor for a F plate 340 1.7. Dont need the fan from within the heater box unless they are paired with a particular type of motor? I'd also appreciate the hose that goes from the heater box to the motor hub if it's available.

Mine has a poor connection on the brown lead into the motor which results in fan sometimes and sometimes not! As we have now past the time when I need to demist the car every morning I'd like a more reliable motor please. I'm better at swapping units than taking electric motors apart - hence the request.

Could anyone help please? Beer tokens await for the unit and post and packing.

Please PM me if you can help.

Thanks

Nigel

At the risk of asking a stupid question...have you definitely verified that the motor is at fault? There is a famous fault with these cars which causes the blower fan to stop working...but it's not the fan itself.

And just cos Foggy didn't mention it, it's the heater resistor pack... although the switch has been a favourite lately too. Usually the pack though.

Thanks for the advice - Switch was intermittent and so I did a trawl of the forum and found all the heater threads. Spent a Saturday stripping down the heater box only to find after doing so that moving the wires going to the actual motor made or broke a circuit and it worked or didn't. Direct feed to the motor also proved it I think when again moving wires to motor meant it ran or didn't. Felt blinking silly after all the work on the box as, as you know the motor is easy to get at. Great forum and it helps a lot to be able to pick the brains of those who have been there, done that, and got the T shirt.

Glad to hear you've got a firm diagnosis! I have a fan kicking around here if John can't sort you out.

cheers
