5spd manual gearknob

Post by Kyuss » 02 Dec 2004 10:51 am

does anyone have a decent condition gear knob suitable for a 360GLT 5 speed?

no?

maybe a dash mat (you know, those carpetty things that cover all of the cracks in an Australian Volvo's dash board)...

Currenlty unroadworthy, plenty-o-rust and
missing bits. Maybe Feb '05 on the road.

I do actually have a spare one! Shipping may be rather expensive! Let me know if you're interested though! It's from a 5 speed manual 360 GLT. Pete

pete,

that would be great, i have had 360 haynes manuals shipped from UK at about 10pounds ea. i think, so a gear knob should be heaps less. Lemme know how much in total you would like.

I am also in need of an accelerator pedal. Just the pad and the retaining pin, not the whole arm...

Hi there Kyuss, I'll have a look in daylight tomorrow to check, but I should have the accelerator pedal and clip you're also looking for! Providing they aren't different, they should be ok, as you also drive on the left with right hand drive vehicles in Australia, if I'm correct! I'll take a look tomorrow and look into postage costs too! Do you have a paypal account setup, as that would make life very simple.
Cheers, Pete.

yah pete, i have a paypal account with username "kyu55s" though have never used it outside the flea-bay, so am not sure how it works person to person... sure it won't be too difficult to figure out.

indeed we drive on the left with the driver on the right so there should be no issues with that.

deKay, i though of stopping at two, but you never know when you may need the odd spare copy. damn that isn't anywhere near witty enough.

here we go, a real gem:

I have two of each manual , One I keep for reference (kept clean ) and one with me when I am working on the car (covered in grubby paw prints ) they were both only about 50p each from (you guessed it ) charydee shops

Ok mate, well that makes life easier with Paypal! I've checked and I definitely have a nice example of both accelerator pedal and gear knob, so I'll get them packaged up and check the postage charge soon. Then we'll sort it all out from there.

Hi Kyuss,
I managed to get the whole pedal arm off, but I don't want to damage the pedal plate removing it! I'll try and free up the central pin with some WD40, but otherwise it may be best to send the whole arm. Please check the picture below to see if it is the same.

Does it really!? The 'normal' Volvo way is to use a second throttle spindle which moves 'above' the pedal level. You mean the pedal moves and all? Spooky!!

cheers

pete, that is fu-bleep-in' great. i am happy to front the postage for the whole arm if that is easier. Saves you trying to disassemble the thing, and means that if there is any difference between your pad and mine (snigger), it won't matter.

thanks for being so prompt on the pics.

redline - with the manuals, i got a couple because i was of the opinion that the less models covered, the more detail given on the models it did cover - i think manuals try to encompass too many models sometimes at the expense of detail. It didn't work though, because the '85 manual only has '85 info in the supplementary section, whereas the '87 manual has info throughout covering the B200E and various other newer model info, anjd is about 100 pages longer for it... they were only cheap still - less than a pound each, but postage was more than 10 pounds each.

i have been noticing on this forum that the cost of a 360 over there, at let's say 40p to the AU$, is still way less than a 360 costs over here. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the difference would be attributable to the large difference in petrol prices between UK and Aus, meaning that older less economical cars are worth less because the economy is worse, and running costs therefore lots higher..?

suppose we are getting off topic slightly.
