Spare parts for 343 '76

Post by weeegar » 31 Jul 2008 12:21 am

Hi!

Does anybody know of a place where I can find and buy parts ( it don't have to be original parts, but thats a plus :) ) for my Volvo 343 DL 1,4 CVT?

It seems impossible to get parts for such an "old" car here in Norway.

I am currently in need of:
- Fuel fillhose (the hose from my fuel fillpoint to the tank)
- Gaswire/throttlecable (from '76 to '78 I think it has a little microswitch for the 4-way pneumatic valve for the CVT)
- Shock absorbers (all 4)

Questions/comments? Post...

Btw: excuse my english :P I'm from Norway...

Hi, and welcome! Your English is perfect as far as I can see, and certainly far better than my Norwegian!

As far as I'm aware, you can use the same shocks as a 1991 car. You probably want to check that before making a purchase, though!

The fuel fill hose, again, *should* be the same as (or at least very similar to) a late car.

The throttle cable...that's more tricky. I suggest having a local (i.e. in Norway!) specialist make a replacement for you.

cheers

Thanks for answering so fast!

The Shock absorbers aren't my biggest consern, I have a local volvo shop (not original, but styling, spare parts etc.) They prob have shock absorbers there. I bought shocks there for my '88 360GL.

But they couldn't help me with either throttle cable or fuel fill hose.

I have seen that it's not the same hose as on my 360 since the fueltank has been moved due to lack of space due to the sparewheel has been moved from front to back. A later 340 maybe have the same cause some of them has the spare wheel in front aswell... But as I mentioned earlier, Volvo or my volvo shop could not help me there... :(

Yes, 360 and 340 tanks (and almost all of the connecting pieces) are different, but I expect that all 340 ones are the same. Some later cars had extra breather pipes, etc...but I wouldn't get too worried about that!

cheers

Hello Weeegar!
Valkommen!
Nice to see that there is at least one 1976-77 car that has survived outside the Benelux.

The fuel filler hose 3273014 is for as far as I know identical for all the B14 engined 340's. You should take a look at your local scrapyard to see if there is a good one on a car as they have been "out of stock" at vOLVO for at least 3 years.

The throttle cable you are looking for is chassisnumber dependant. Can you tell me your chassisnumber? That would make life easier to see which part you exactly need.

Shockabsorbers are, as James allready said, identical to the later B14 engined ones. You can find these often on ebay for example.

Hi Weeegar!

If you are looking for spares, why not buy a spare car?
I found this one on "blocket" in Sweden for just 4500 SEK!
http://www.blocket.se/vi/17455964.htm?ca=15_s

It's a MK-I from '76 I think and it's cheap.
Then you have all the spares you can think of and as the guy writes, it's in good condition as well.

Could be a winner!?

Regards.
