Rear leaf spring consol

Post by François » 29 Dec 2008 03:07 pm

Is anyone familiar with MOT failure of the rear leaf spring consols,
because of rust? It is the part holding the shackles at the rear.
Part number is 3267522-5 and Volvo does not deliver it any more.
Now I have two 360 GLT's which suffer from this.
So I need 2 pair of rear leaf spring consols.
Is there anyone out there able to reproduce them or make a copy?

I just may be able to help there. I have got the same job to do on a car here so If can can fabricate them to look right I'll make more to help other owners out.

Hi all, bit of a topic hijack here...can anyone tell me the measurements of the rear leaf springs from eye to eye please?
Hubby wants to get the rear springs re-set or rebuilt or something, also tossing around the idea of adding another leaf to lift the saggy bum up a bit. We've got shocking roads up here. :)

Cheers!
Anne.

It might be an idea to fit non-GLT spec springs. More ground clearance :-) But AFAIK "only" GLTs were sold down under?

no, there aren't as far as I know (learned a few days ago daf 66 uses the same one, but haven't found any sportystuff yet).

What you can do: buy another set of springs. Cut them a little shorter, and fit them untherneath the original ones (Yes, double springs!)...There are also sets on the market to fit an extra spring around your shock absorber.

Remember: both make the car stiffer, and a little higher. If u only want higher, there are other options...

There are a few places that make leafs still... I keep meaning to do mine but I never remember in the same week I have pennies spare.

francois,

do you still need the rear leaf spring mounts? im breaking a 340GL and when i was under there removing the rear springs and fuel tank i happened to notice that theyre immaculate- i can easily cut them out with a bit of spare metal all the way round and post them. youd just be able to drill the spotwelds out and swap them straight on then, plus theyre original volvo steel
PM me if interested.
