You are right, it shouldn't be to complicated to wire the voltmeter but you know I prefer electrical connections as it was build by Volvo... I know, I'm a bit "perfectionist" lol

The gauge only is simply to find, for 10 - 15 eur you can find that on Ebay... Example here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... otohosting
Collection: '78 343 Black Beauty, '82 345 GLS, '83 340 DL 2.0, '84 340 DL vario, '88 360 GLT 5d (2x) & 4d (2x), '89 GLT, '91 340 vario
Dad's cars: '87 340 vario, '89 340 vario
Lot of donors cars and parts...

No, its that simple (well...its actually wired across switched +12v - ignition, so you can switch it off...but close enough :))

It uses standard spade connectors, but I'm fairly confident it'll have the wiring. You could buy it from America...but then I can do you a 'bulk discount' with those headlight wipers ;)

cheers

Just a thought, if that voltmeter was mounted horizontally, when the ignition was switched off, it may not return to its 'off' standard position! I think in some way that they depend on gravity to set the needle when off!

Again i may be wrong - just a thought

They're pretty strongly sprung actually (if you see mine at the VOC show, you'll see what I mean!), but its a good point. It'd look best to get all three together in a cluster.

No, but i tested it, and they've all got the same mechanism inside (well...the bit to make the needle move anyway). Put it this way....if you think the ambient temp needle moves quickly...

I thought about putting it in place of the ciggy lighter using a gauge mount from a Volvo 200, but as james says it would take some fettling!

Not wide enough to accept the 52mm diameter VDO gauge!

Ashtray - that's the place to put it. Either that, or use the 3-way holder from a 200 in place of the radio / heater controls / fag lighter, clock, and ashtray.

5lab...how about this? ;)

If I could see on a picture where the voltmeter connected is... If the whole wiring is included and can fit without any problem on my 360, it's ok for me... Is it coming from a 300? 200?

The easiest way is to wire it between the heated rear screen switch and ground (either connect it straight to the chassis, or use any brown wire you can see).

I'm not sure how much wire it will come with, so you might have to extend it. It's coming from a 240, but the wiring is the same, and they're the same gauge. To be honest, I'm not even 100% certain that there is a Voltmeter in this packages - I'm waiting on pics in a day or two - but I'm fairly certain there is.

cheers

you might have to run it off the stereo somewhere - because afaik nothing else round there is running off the ignition - ciggy lighter and clock both just run off the battery afaik :P

That's true, there's an ignition line for the stereo (and for the fan speed switch). The installation instructions recommend the heated rear screen switch because its the easiest one to get to!
