HELP HELP HELP. Speedo and Oil Problems!

I have got a Volvo 340 GL 1.7 carb. I have a problem though. Well a few. First off my speedo cable has snapped just after the metal hoop/ring thing at the bottom by the wheel but i dont know where to get a new one from or how to fit it. I know how to feed it through from the back of the Speedo down to where it has snapped but then im stuck. Does it go near the wheel or something?

I have a hell of a lot of oil lying around my on everything in the engine bay. I dont know where its coming from and dont know how to sort it. I cant afford to take it to Volvo to sort. How do i clean a hell of a lot of oil from the engine bay cheaply and without killing the engine electrics?

there is a product called GUNK available to wash your engine with , brush it on then just wash it off , check dipstick is in properly , filler cap is tight and rocker cover gasket for leaks , make sure all pipes are connected securely , a little bit of oil can go a long way , try ebay for a speedo cable or euro car parts, good luck
