Will the tool be punching out the centre hole? If it is for less tool wear if you had the blanks cut with the centre punched already it would locate on the tool and keep it centred.

The boss is for location, it will probably be too soft for punching out. I extended it out to keep the tool aligned and keep the blank centered. My mechanical guys in the office recon a 0.1-.2 clearnance on the diameter should be doable.

I've expanded the outer to 62mm and fixed the alignment guide so it actually fits.

My Mechanical consultants are concerned there will be some rippling as the outer edge is compressed and that the tool would be better if it matched the profile, but say it just needs to be tried. I'd prefer not to waste tool material getting it wrong, but a profiled one could be tricky.

Looking at the part I think it was done with a straight tool, rather than a profiled one. I think heating the blank might avert any problems with rippling.

Anyone with pressing experience.

I have, but only 1D curves, so I'm going to not butt in atm.

I'm reading what you are doing with interest and really do hope it works though.
