Shouldn't make a difference.

VIDA only goes back to MY85 and they only list two screens. One clear, one tinted with a blue sunstrip across the top.

My 1976-88 crash repair parts book shows three screens. One clear, one tinted (-84) and one tinted with a blue sunstrip across the top (CH 553212-).

Only the rubbers and locking strips/joints differ as far as I know.

ETA: Here's my MY78 which has a late (with the blue top band) tinted windscreen fitted.

I suggest you have another go at fitting it or get somewhere else to. Old, hard rubbers always make life difficult round the bends....
