Hello, I´m loocking for a short final gear to my Volvo.

Mi car was a 1.7 and now it´s a b18ft (180 BHP). It´s a race car and I need some similar to a 4,5:1 or a 5:1. Do you know any option or shop to buy it? If I could mount other Volvo pinion gears in my gearbox I could make a new gearbox so.

If you want to gear it down you could change the diff for the lowest gearing possible. You can also gear it down by running wheels and tyres with a smaller rolling radius, what size wheels and tyres are you using?

I use a 185/60/13 and a 175/60/13. The lowest standard diff I know is a 3,82, it´s only a 5% lower than mine, it is a poor gain. I want a 4,5:1-5:1 to have a 2ª to around 60 kph top, I will use to start and I only will use 2º, 3ª, 4ª and 5ª having more close ratio gearbox than now at the same speed.

What engine is this with? Myself and my housemate did this a while ago to his E36 BMW, replaced the diff with a ~4.6 from an auto to make what we thought would be an autotest awesome machine. Turned out with the time that a gear change takes it was slower if anything.

Engine´s a B18FT form a Volvo 460 turbo.
