Can't believe what I did, what an idiot!
Can't believe what I did, what an idiot!
I was attempting to strip the suspension on the passenger side in the dark and rain so was rushing. Went to cut the brake hose as it is quicker and I'm replacing them anyway but instead snapped my cutters attempting to cut through the speedo cable! What an a*se! Anyone know where I can get another?

Cheers for the link macplaxton. I got one of these but it doesn't seem to want to fit in the square hole. It is the correct cable but just slightly rectangular at the end. Ever come across this?
Cheers.
Cheers.

No entirely sure of what the problem is - do you mean that the end of the cable does not fit in the square hole in the hub cover? (in which case it shouldn't - the cable, with it's slightly square end passes through the stub axle and fits into an adapter tube, which itself is clipped into the hub cover with a KLM CLIP).

Cable is squidged square either end and goes into square holes.

Sorry guys, didn't realise there were replies on here.
The speedo end of the cable is squared. the other end is more oval than square and will not go into the adapter tube. Wondering if I should try to square it in my vice but don't want to lose the opportunity to return it.

The "wheel" end of the cable should definitely fit into the adapter tube - it starts off round and is "squared" by a press tool during manufacture.
If it does not fit the tube I would suggest that it's a faulty cable - slightly reforming it in a vice is probably all that is needed.
I would think a quick call to the supplier to explain the situation and ask if they're happy for you try to re-shape it.
- Would be a lot quicker than having to send it back.

I emailed them last night asking if the vice is an advisable way forward or whether to return it. Will see what response I get.
