360 GLE carby Renix needed

Post by bogbasic » 09 Mar 2016 05:46 pm

I need a renix for an '88 360 GLE carby model. The local garage has done all the tests on the resistances, etc, and tried a new coil on it and they're sure its the renix itself. Has anyone got anything going or suggestions??

I have a 414B. The list in the pinned section above doesn't goto 88, but my 88 owners manual says 414A. It also says Bendix on it so it might be that.

I presume they have tested the crank sensor, an odd problem I had on one car was a corroded contact for the crank sensor, worked if you pressed the connector, ended up soldering the wires directly in.

The number ends 411 A

In total its "210686 S100600 - 411 A Renix"

.... but I'm really mixed-up because I gave the garage two spares which didn't cure the problem but they are for different models and/or are broken (!!). I can't remember which is the original and which is a spare. The one they gave me back and said it was the original (and I think they are right) is a 411 but a look at a pricey one on the bay of e's (good one SteveP) shows that that one does for a 1.4, too!! Is that right??

Fab links:
viewtopic.php?t=3506
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=9046
... 411 looks right for 360, but not the 1.4. Anyhow, can someone remind me: is the 1988 carburettor 360 model b200F or K?? I just can't remember which are the E's, F's and K's, sorry, without looking under the bonnet and the car is out of reach....

Cheers for now, bogs.

B200F is a cat equipped LU injection with O2 sensor.
B200K is carb
B200KO is low compression carb (1988)
B200KE is high compression carb (1987)

The 414A does all 88 360s and 87 360 carb (owners manual data), but the spark plugs differ slightly between high and low compession (hadn't noticed that before).

The 411 does an 87 B200E or F,

The should all work, but the ignition map will not be optimal/bad for engine, sounds like there is another problem.

Hello, many thanks for all that info. The garage did all the lecky tests - the bloke even had MAC's thread on his iPad (!!) and he has condemned the renix. So it looks as though the car had a non-optimal renix in it but now it does not work and I can therefore replace it with either another 411 or possibly the right one (414?). The set-up was never ideal - tune it as much as I could and the car would always cough on every trip - that became one of its endearing features....

So its looking like I need a 411 or a 414, thanks again.

I did tell the garage that most of the lecky problems are caused by corrosion on the contacts at the back of the fuse box, but they don't think that is the problem in this case. Could a bad contact there, cause this problem?

I found a wiring diagram here:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12561

and there is a wire that goes to the renix from the fuse box - I bet that's wots dodgy innit.

I think you mainly have power, (igniton 12V blue and ground orange), mac diagrams will tell you which pin, otherwise you have rpm signal (green) to the rev counter (make sure its not short to gnd).

[SOLVED] The garage had put on a new flywheel sensor which doesn't work. I put the old one back on (after a clean-up) along with the old 411A and it starts and runs well. Spooky, stuff.

[FULLY SOLVED] with new (home-made) carb gaskets - many leaks in the old ones. Professionals, eh? 'Their' dent almost repaired, too.
