little question: is it the same location as for the 300 series? I've no manual for the 400 series. The bumper is easy to dismantle?

I've got one for him...it's on its way to the post....but just so you know for next time....

It's located down and behind the grille - so more in the middle of the car. Look straight down behind the grille, and you can't miss it. It must have the 'info centre' for it to have the sender.

cheers

That's cool!

Is it exactly the same sender?

The sender is missing on my 360 and there are 440's with info center in the scrapyard.

It's not necessary to remove the whole bumper then, the grille is enough?

Just open the bonnet and look down - you don't need to remove the grille. Hugh's gauge is powered by a 440 sender....so I guess it works ;) Just kidding...its exactly the same part.

cheers

Great! Thanks!

Last question, how is it connected to the gauge? I have installed the old gauge model for Smiths instrument panel, there's a simple wire between the gauge and the sender. But for the VDO, there's no connexion on the gauge as for the Smiths panel :?:

on a vdo dash there are 2 spare leads leading from the wire loom - brown and stripey if i remember right. hook these up to the sender and bobs yer uncle

Oh!! So the wiring is already there? There's nothing to do, just connect the sender?

the wiring is only ~20cm long, so you have to run a wire from there to the sender at the front of the car, unless you got a sender with wiring

Ok, thanks for the info.

And where is the wire? near the fan box?

just trace the right hand (if your looking at the dash normally from the drivers seat) wire loom, you'll find the 2 wires quite easily. perhaps take some photos to make it easyer for someone else to do? i've already done mine ya see :)

Ok, I think it's not too difficult to do, I just have to find the right wiring. But what a shame I don't have a digital camera :(

I always have to "rent" the camcorder of a friend and it becomes difficult to do it all the time... (espacially with what I record lol) Not everyone is a Volvo300maniac
