Remember a while ago there was a volvo 480 guy who possibly dished out a couple custom sets of spigots for converting vw(57.1mm) to volvo(52.1mm).

Just wondering if anybody has any/knows where they can be bought (for a sensible price, only company who said they actually had them was asking for £60+, lol - I can buy a lathe and make them for that!)

already carpet bombed all ebay sellers and online wheel merchants selling spigot rings - no luck , it appears that "all cars/sizes" is actually meaningless

Why do you feel the need for spigot rings?
This has been done to death before but I've always ran Vaux/Opel,Mazda stuff etc on stage and road rallies without issue.
Had plenty of problems with diffs exiting stage rear-never wheel wobble.

I know, I know! (and I know its been done to death hence didn't post a dumb newb question and asked specifically about the special run that was made )

I'm a careful soul and fancied the peace of mind when applying the handbrake (in circumstances as specified by the highway code of course) etc. etc.

Careful soul or not,I've just changed the wheels for Mr Cloud on the GLT he's gettin',well MK2's don't even have a lip on the rear drum.
By that I'd gather the studs are taking the weight of the wheel and any subsequent forces applied therein.
Therefore, I conclude the notion spouted by wheel distributors and the like that spigot rings are necessary for aftermarket rims to be BS!
More than likely to do with wanting £14 for 4 plastic rings that will have cost 3p to manufacture.
I'd still recommend you get some J for peace of mind,like.

lol, I already know that early 300's didn't have a centre for the wheel to fit over. But that doesn't mean that they are not a good idea - the first cars ever made had wooden wheels but that doesn't mean that steel and alloy composites are bad ideas

Is it just the rear of mk2's that don't have the lip? Maybe less forces are exerted on them than the fronts.

Spigot rings make sense, in that the weight of the vehicle is not taken by 4 bolts, (or less if one should work loose), and just because many people have gotten away without does not mean they are not needed.

Following on the tenuous arguments , many people never wear a seatbelt and are fine - doesn't mean a few people aren't very glad they exist.

For the relatively small price of the rings, versus potential injury's if a wheel falls off at high speed, they seem a worthwhile investment.

pretty much my standpoint, though really this thread was just an enquiry about a specific run of spigots made a while ago. I was trying to avoid yet another spigot debate but some northerners require adversary to make it through the day
