I'm driving to cyprus in october, and I need a cheap 300 hatch to do the journey in. only requirements are mot + tax to mid-oct, good runner prefered, tatty bodywork required.

cheers!

Crete?? Isn't that a bit, erm, tame?

How about the "Timbuktu Challenge" to Mali ;-)

idea behind cyprus (heh, got the place wrong) is me + mate can only get 2 weeks off work, and while you certainly can do further in that time, you miss all the stuff en-route. Also, cyprus is part of the EU, so they can't stiff you with import charges for leaving a car there. Flights back are fairly cheap, and the collective girlfriends are coming out for a long weekend on the beach at the end. all in all, pretty easy. there's only us going at the moment, but everyone's more than welcome to join us - obviously you can drive back or carry on at the end, we're flying back

crutial thing is the car's gotta have enough tax and mot to make it out of the country on the 3rd october - I'm guessing looking nearer then for some bargins is probably the best option. beyond that, i'm driving down on friday night to my mates house in darmstadt, then taking 1 day to get to trieste, getting the boring motorway distances out the way in one go. that day we might via the nurburgring and some beer baths in austria as well

beyond that, we're just making our way through the ex-yougoslav block, making our run to the sun.

anyone game, let us know

Aha, not quite so tame then ;-) Cyprus is a bit more difficult to reach with a car than Crete ;-)

by the way, the film of the trip (3 hours, a few spots of volvo 300s though) is here http://community.theifclubsite.com/comp ... Itemid,73/ worth it for a giggle.

Nice 360 GLT "open air" :D

Hugh, you will never stop to destroy 300s, even for holiday to Cyprus

ahh comeon - they don't get destroyed (except, i admit, the ones i crashed..)

siddy, which i took to the gambia was sold to a local for £400! cars over there have a hard life but are worth so much (and labour is so cheap) that they keep them running forever. whatever I buy now will be sold when we get to cyprus, so will have a happy life out there for a while, in the sun. perfect!
