1.4 prop and bell housing?

Post by Bazboy » 21 Aug 2008 08:55 pm

hey guys, i need a new prop and bell housing for next week as mine is going and i am round my mates next weekend who will probably allow me to use his some of his garage to carry out the work.

Basically ages ago my prop went and took most of the clutch shaft with it, so i replaced the prop and went on my merry way hoping the prop would hold but then about 3 months later it started to go again and apon closer inspection it looked as though the prop splines were bending and about to go, so i rotated the prop to put the bad splines on the gear box end and the good splines on the nasty clutch shaft end and all seemed good until today when the prop started getting very loud so i popped under the car and its going again, so im about to pop out and tighten it all to hopefully last me the week as i need the car for work.

Only time i have free for a while is next weekend when im going round a mates to do some other bits to the car and would really appreciate if somebody in the close area have a prop/bell housing i could buy off them.

Chris i spoke to you i think a few weeks back when i got the wheels of you about a bell housing you might have, is this accessible in the next week?

Also daffodil offered me one ages ago but he is located quite far away and haven't had the chance to get there lately, really wish i had made the trip now.

Cheers for any help you guys can offer me in my time of need.

Dan.

Ahhhhhhhh i was so excited about retro rides i didnt think lol its always the way, a problem goes away for a while u tend to forget about them, then all of a sudden they come back with vengeance lol, sucks as well since im of to Guilford this weekend so im hoping shell hold for the trip, ive tightened it up and it seems better, ill have to take it really careful.

WooDoo do you think you might be able to post it for me, ill pay for postage if its around the 10 pound mark.

You could swap the shaft in the bellhousing over if its damaged? I do have a spare one here? And i can tell you how to swap it.
As for prop a 1.7 one will fit just fine.
