Mk2 340 Headlight Wipers blades?

Post by volvosneverdie » 27 Nov 2008 08:28 pm

Looking for a fresh set of headlamp wiper blades for 340.
Looking on ebay people are asking 16 quid a pair?!
:x

bit steep isnt it?

Has anyone got a stockpile, or info on somewhere selling them a bit cheaper?

many thanks V3Mers.

I dunno about wiper blades from scrapyards. Chances are, they'll be knackered. How about doing an Ebay search (and save it) using a few part numbers.

Have a look at

http://ecat-online.bosch.de/toc/

and have your chassis number handy. This'll tell you which cars have the same headlamp wiper blades as yours.

#---------#

Up to Ch nr. 120999, Ford Sierra MkII and Volvo 740/760 headlamp wiper blades will apparently fit a 300.

Bosch 3 398 113 084
equivalent to

FORD 6151228
FORD 87BG 13K089 AA
VOLVO 1325545

#---------#

From Ch. nr. 121000 onwards it's a bit more difficult - they list Fiat Ducatos, '83 - '85 Honda Accords, Opel Mantas, Peugeot 604's, and Renault 5's (were they ever fitted with headlamp wipers?)

Bosch 3 398 113 041
equivalent to, well, lots:

CITROËN 6430 79
DAF 278216
FIAT 5958240
HONDA 38547-SA5-622 HE

IVECO 5958240
LANCIA 5958240
OPEL 09283851
OPEL 1271421

PEUGEOT 6430 79
RENAULT 77 01 030 949
VOLVO 278216
VOLVO 32782161

Try an Ebay search with some of those part numbers, checking the box marked "Include title and description"

Cheers

pull the metal straps out of the headlight wiperblade. Get a cheap/old screenwiperblade, little fiddling and it is as new!

OK, well if you want to do it the lazy way, which is the trabitom way, then here's your Ebay search:

http://tinyurl.com/56ge5p

Pretty useless ATM as there's nothing found, but save the search and you'll be notified when the wipers turn up.

All i did was buy some replacement rubber strip and cut it to size, works fine.

blades

Post by workshopmanualman » 28 Nov 2008 08:44 pm

The blades aren't the issue - that's just a money problem. However, if you have the little headlamp washer fitted, and you've broken the wiper blade to arm holder, now you just try getting one of those....

Scrapyard was my solution. Find a late model SAAB where the blades match, rip 'em off discretely, whistle a lot, shuffle towards the exit, point to something in the sky, run....
I blame the Volvo 66 estate I had......

Sounds absolutley and completley the most inconspicious set of actions ive ever imagined.

You shouldve tried to get a steering rack down each trouser leg as well man.

Keep it up!

Yeah, same problem here - I can get blades no problem, 3.49 eur / set (2 pcs.) but unfortunately the other holder has snapped so it's no use!

The part seems to be quite affordable, it's just a matter of finding a breaker who still does 300's _and_ stocks such "minor" parts. And hoping that the replacement won't immediately snap as well, since the material is old anyway.
