Looking for a 360glt
Looking for a 360glt
You might have read that my 340 is now dead. Is sad but now i'm on the lookout for a 360GLT. I'm having real trouble finding one up here (Manchester). Also, what do i have to look out for when buying one?
b200 for unleaded, right?
how much more fuel do they consume than a 340 1.4?
thanks
rick

i thought you were in sussex?
ebay is your best bet for a glt. they consume a fair bit of fuel, but if your cruise at 70 its nearly the same as a 340. i'd try to get a very late one if i were you - they have lots of mod cons and toys.. also check your free-ads regularly. its worth paying 2-300 for a good one, you'll save that easily in repair costs.

Nice idea, Hugh, but you really have no idea how rare 360s are in this neck of the woods. Seriously, you don't see a 360 from one month to the next - and ones for sale just don't turn up at any price - plenty or chatty 240s (In my continuing quest to find a replacement tow car, I looked at a 240 last week '85 2.3 GL: good floorpan, good inner wings, decent interior - apart from that it had rust in every panel, a front wing out of alignment, drivers door A pillar bodged with a kilo of filler under the bottom hinge area, rear wheelarch bottom lip crumbled away in my fingers, white gunge in the oil filler cap, and this joker thought 12 months MOT made it worth £345!
Anyhow, I have had my eyes peeled for a 360 cause you guys keep raving about them: can I find one up here - can I HELL!
There was a 3 door Mk2 360GLT up North only last week, can't remember where exactly.. but North of Leeds if I remember rightly. Though it turned out it wasn't as good as it sounded in the ad.
They can be hard to find, be prepared to travel - I had to for mine. It seems that alot of them are located around the Bucks area (damn them), infact theres one there now for sale.. blue GLT with only 37k miles.

Tom, how right you are! I do have one Red 360 GLT for sale, though someone is currently interested, and yet to view it, so I'd like them to get a chance to see it and make me an offer before I open it up to all!
My Dad has the limited edition black 360 GLT saloon, which is a very tidy car, apart from one front wing, and it would need a rear wheel bearing replacing. It has stood for a few years unused, but still a very nice car with a lot of potential, it would be nice for it to be saved! A proper advert in the for offer section will be posted for the black one shortly.
It is however a fair distance for you chaps from up North to travel! Bucks and now Oxfordshire seem to be the hotspots for Volvo 300's!

It would seem that the further North you are the more scarce the 300 series is. I am in County Durham and you just don't see them!
Travelling does seem to be the only option, oh it was I that went to see the low mileage 360, disappeared from Autotrader but might still be worth a call to see if the mystery buyer ever turned up
P.S. Still looking for a good 360/40... Wanted one for years but always had my head turned by cars that were either plain silly or could never meet the standards of a Volvo..

All other things being equal, yes, but not in 360s, as the camshaft is a lot more 'relaxed', and the carb is undersized, reducing flow. The B200K (carb) 360 56mph MPG book figure is 52, against 35 for the B200E (injection).Clive Burke wrote:its injection, which is more efficient then a carb to start with. Clv
So what exactly does your gadget do Clive? Shut off the injectors automatically when the engine is in vacuum (or maybe from the throttle position sensor?), or just a manual flip switch to shut off two injectors when you don't really need the power?
cheers
