Hi, anyone got a radio cassette to fit a 1990 1.4 auto 340? I want the same as is in it now, ie the original one... but preferably one that lets me play tapes lol!
Thanks! Olga

What's the code of the radio, Olga? Is it any of these?
Cheers

No, afraid not - it's a vc802 radio cassette - there is one on ebay but with no bloody code!!

As you're on a budget.
Take the old one out, pop it open and see where the belt has gone. Probably just fallen off. Maplin Electronics might have something the right size to replace it.
Or, just use an mp3 player with a cassette adaptor as it doesn't need a motor to turn the spools, just contact with the heads.
That's what my money is on. Broken or stretched drive belt.
If you're not inclined to have a peek inside, don't throw it out.

Brilliant advice - thank you! Yes, very tight budget... got to buy hatch struts, plugs, rotor arm, change oil, check drive belts, buy stuff to fix a big hole in the hatch... so cheap cheap... I'll try that about cassette: it does play but slooooowwwwwwwly...
So you can get replacements from maplins? Thanks

You can, but it really depends on the length. Or perhaps eBay "cassette drive belt" / local radio/television repair shop / CPC Farnell / RS Components / Electronics shop?
As it's playing, it'll be down to being slack.

Or an mp3 player with an FM transmittor. That way you can pick up the signal using the radio.
I've had mixed results with that mind, I prefer to use a cassette adaptor ...

Do you fancy this one? Not digital or anything. If you don't mind the look I'll test it out, its coming out anyway. Hasn't been used in 10 years. You can have it for the postage and packaging.

Hey, metal tape facility! Dolby! Loudness button
That was some fine piece of kit in the 80's ...
