I'm off to Ryhope on sunday too, bout 10 i think, got at least 7 from our 'club' going, Geordie might be one of them if the one you're on about drives a zx coupe?
Cherry knowles has a big fence round now doesn't it? not that fences stop a bit of exploration lol.
Standard modern thing outside cherry knowles (my first proper journey after i passed lol)
Will be good to see yous again

The 940 ign switch is far superior to the 360 job IMO.
I dislike the spade connections for the electrics and the fact it only has one accessory position.Must be a mk2 thing? Not to mention it was easier to switch the 2/3 wires over from the 360 switch than the 8 or so (guess) from the 940.
Plus I would rather have just the one key to start the car. I originally intended to run the pick up ring on the 360 barrel or in the vicinity and have the 940 key (or at least it's chip) on my keyring.
Liam.
Bugger, I wasn't prepared for that, my 95 doesn't have an ID chip, the 96 one is different. What does it talk to, do you know? Can I get rid of it?
The transponder chip in the key is read by the pick up amplifier ring which slots onto the end of the barrel.
As for getting rid, the easiest solution would be to tape the chip to the pick up (or near it). Maybe cut the blade from the key and hide it in the steering shrounds?

I know how RFID works, the question is, what ECU is checking it? If it is the alarm and you have bypassed it you should not need the RFID.
I haven't looked into it as I prfer having a transponder chip system fitted to the car and have no intention of bypassing it. Although I doubt it would be too hard given the simplicity of the rest of the setup. The alarm is in the bin.
L14MNP wrote:The ICU is the non Jetronic ECU. The igntion control module (from what I can geather anyway).
There is a starter inhibitor that plugs in at the front of the tunnel. IIRC it was you that sent me something on bypassing it with a relay?
I was talking about the alarm system (and my 95 car), it controls the starter motor, this is entirely different if it is built into an engine management system. There is an EZK module for the ignition, whatever that means. I don't know if it is a computer or just an interface for the LH2.4, which others talk about as flywheel's being LH2.4 compatible (but the flywheel is an ignition component). Guess I'll have to trace the wiring from the pickup, although would be nice if I can fit the pickup to the 360 lock and put the ID chip in the 360 key (large one with light). Possibly I could just get a little ID socket and carrier.
Described as immobiliser relay. It has 8 connections, 2 of which are the transponder and 2 will be power and ground, so 4 to work out. Hopefully they are just relays, the case comes off really easily and there are a couple, of what look like, relay modules. I wonder how its re-programmed, via pretend EODB socket?
I will take a look at my car over the coming weeks as I plan to sort out and tidy up the looms. Good info there. As you say, if the cover comes off it won't be hard to suss.
I spent half an hour removing the original 360 engine bay loom when I got in tonight. I'm going to remove things I don't want and re-terminate a lot of the old connections.
I like the way it unplugs from the fuse box. A nice bit of light re-wiring tomorrow if I CBA as I begin sorting out my cluttered bay. Top tip kids: label everything. I always do and it works out so much easier IMO.
looks like pin 2+3 are the relay connections, unplug the immobiliser and stick a wire in the plug, should bypass it. Havn't tested it though, needs a bit of work to reassemble stuff.
Pin 1 is on the left as you read the label on the unit.
I chopped out the unrequired items from the engine bay loom tonight whilst watching the tele having removed the insulation tape whilst listening to the match. It took me the whole game. It's hard crap to get off, but we won so i didn't mind. lol

Surplus pile
In the bin are facilities for:
Starter exciter
Renix (coil pack)
Headlamp wipers
Carb idle cut off solenoid/anti run on valve
Some crazy solenoid for emissions/planet saving (I think)
and a few spare/unused connections.
