Im converting a 340 1.4 dl to a 1.8 16v (f7p) lump and got a 1.7 bell housing posted from a specialist volvo breakers, but from what i can tell it looks identical to the 1.4 one? How different looking are they and had anyone got any pics of the 1.7 bell housing so i can see if they have just sent me a 1.4 bell housing as this will not fit over the f7p flywheel and only the top 2 bolt holes line up??? hope someone can help, cheers

Re: 1.4 and 1.7 bell housings
I don´t have any pictures here but they are different.
The spigot shaft is longer on the 1.7 because the flywheel is a lot thinner than the 1.4 flywheel. As a result the hole bellhousing and spigot bearing piece are different from the 1.4 one.
You'll need the hole 1.7 bellhousing to fit in the F7...

Re: 1.4 and 1.7 bell housings
If it doesnt fit its the wrong one for sure, the 1.7 one has the flywheel in the very top IIRC the 1.4 one is offset?

theres quite a blatant size difference when you look at them i found. i'll measure up a 1.7's ID tomorrow.
