340 shocks

Post by mrsoundcraft » 21 Jun 2009 07:32 pm

Hi. Im looking for some cheap suspension. Dai's kit is great an I want it, but not quite yet becuase I cant afford it all.

Anyone got any shocks for sale, or able to point me in the right direction via a hyperlink?

Im looking to lower the car and stiffen it up a bit.

My main concern is the front. Ive read bits here and there about Blistein, KYB and other big names but I cant seem to find the stuff anywhere.

Yeah. You're still going to need shorter updated springs. You don't really need new shocks for lowering.
And all the shocks youve mentioned are pretty rare and expensive.
Dai springs and blocks, though expensive, are your best shot for lowering.
Or chop a coil and get some escort blocks and straight bolts.
Won't improve the handling a great deal though.

My plan was to buy most of the stuff that Dai offers, springs, blocks and bushes, which put me at 150. If I added the spax front and back shocks that'd put me up at 450. Which is what the car cost.

So I would have spent 900 altogether which could have bought a German or Japanese RWD car with a far more powerful engine.

But then again that wasn't the point, I like the Volvo's character and style but I though it was meant to be cheap!

The advice I was getting with regard to lowering was to replace the shocks aswell to get the best out of the new uprated springs, thats what started me on my hunt for new ones. But if you think the original shocks might do then I might stick with these just now.

Cheap base car.
Don't suppose anythings cheap once you start uprating and improving suspension?
Even a nice far eastern or german rwd car with a bigger engine and more hp is gonna start hitting you hardest when you start paying for modding it?

Maybe I'm wrong though.

Oh, and Sliders selling some landy shocks (if you want to drift).
Don't recon they'd be right for much else?

Thanks, thats exactly what Im after! :D
If I find them a bit scary I'll look at the expensive options, its not my main car anyway so I can experiment with this and that.
