mad 300less newby

Post by jikovron »

greetings all,,,,,,3 years ago i was on the search for a suitable RWD car as a first car,,and in the free add's paper there was the legend of a 340 1.4 "GRAND LUX" for 120beans (in mint green FTW)
It had FSH to the letter,,,,was called "bessie" (which i thought was drug influenced) and was basically sound everwhere

anyhow after buying the million door luxury spec monster,,,i battled to get its idle correct and there was succes after twn carb clean ups,,,,,clean the idle controll system,,and use good ignition parts i tell ya
i tried making performance airfilters from roses tins,,,clearing out the catalyictic convertor for more POWER YEAH

any how i knacked that lovely free reving 1400 due to a choke flap screw falling in

that was replaced with what i thought was a 1400 C1J.....but alas it was a stinky C1E 1108
That lasted 1 month before the oil ran out on the motorway,,,then it was enter the mighty C3j with then seemed to smoke terribly

that didnt last long either unfortunatley,,,,,so was replaced with a showroom condition 1700 engine that seemed to oooooose torque,,,and make zero induction noise

anyhow even after strut collapses,,prop driveshaft and engine problems i loved the experience (and managed a cool 50'000 miles in mine)

i'm afraid that getting the car to run right seemd to knell the end of ownership,,and thus it was sold,,,,,for £120

ive been 340less now for 2 years,,and i'm now an armchair admirer of the most excellent dutch machine 340pw
buttoned velour armchair 340 enthusiast

Ello mate.
What Ron doesn't mention is that he was majorly involved in creating my valvo, he even made the carb manifold, saving me about £300.
