Ok so I've only brushed past this problem on this forum, and now I can't seem to find a topic that can tell me if I was dreaming or not. Basically I'm now convinced myself that my car is still putting fuel into the engine after it is turned off due to the struggling to start when warm (due to flooded carb?) and the smell of unburnt petrol that hangs around my car after I've used it.
All I know is that it's something made by renix that needs replacing or something along those lines. Can someone enlighten me?
Understanding the leaking carb problem
Re: Understanding the leaking carb problem
I'm sure reading THIS HERE TOPIC will answer quite a bit of your questions. Your Renix (ie electronic ignition) is probably just fine as it's one of the very few things that never seem to go wrong. The problems as mentioned in the topic I linked to basically boiled down to the float in the carburettor and most of the ignition parts (especially distributor cap and rotor, but also spark plugs and leads) which are really rather crappy on 1.7 engines. Parts like the carburettor float are best sourced at Renault dealerships, at least that's what I've read on the Dutch forums, but I think the situation in the UK may be very similar.
--EDIT-- just read elsewhere you've already tackled the ignition.
