Quick questions about clutch change (updated)

Post by Om7 »

Just a quick question as I'm changing my clutch at the moment;

Which way round does the friction disk go?

And which way does the release bearing slide in? From the clutch arm side or starter side?

It is a 343DL 1.4

Cheers!
Edit;

I fit the disc so the 'bulge' was facing towards the rear of the car. Now I have a new problem. :roll:

After reassembling the clutch it will not disengage.

When the adjustment is all the way out the pedal is practically on the floor and doesn't do anything, and at the other extreme (all the way in) the pedal is about where it should be, but still does nothing and the pedal becomes really stiff towards the end of its travel (I think it is trying to snap the arm off. :P)

As far as I know (I have double checked) everything has gone back together correctly. The only thing I can think of is either I have been given the wrong clutch (it fits perfectly, but the teeth on the pressure plate are much larger than the old one) or I have fit the fiction disc the wrong way around.

Anyone have any ideas? Sorry for the tl;dr.

Cheers!

edit2;

Sorted it myself yesterday, took it all back apart and replaced the new pressure plate with the old one (not ideal, but better than nothing) and stuck it all back together. Worked straight away, which I am very happy about. Also, the change only took me 2 hours second time rather than a whole day the first. :p
