right i dont actually own a volvo yet but here goes.
i have avaliable to me a wrecked civic type r complete and paid for, my first question is:
does anyone no of this conversion in a 340/360 before?
If so what transmission did it run as i imagen that a 1.7's transmission would not in anyway shape or form take this much power(185 bhp @ 8200, 16.3Nm @ 7600)?? i realise that it would be a huge project but im just wondering if anyone has any experiance with this sort of stuff?
honda type r (B16B) powered 340???

As far as I know no one has done this conversion. The 1.7 would be ok with that amount of power but you would probably want to upgrade the prop. A 360 maybe a better start with its slightly stronger drive line.
Th other option is the 240 back axle and use a convetional gearbox.

Re: honda type r (B16B) powered 340???
Might not be too bad, especially as the power is high up in the rev range and 163nm isn't that much torque which is what kills drivetrains. I'm sure the Renault F7R lumps would produce a similar amount and they seem to be holding up ok... I would probably suggest a stronger custom prop though. But then that'd be the least of the worries, trying to mate up a fwd engine to the 340's bellhousing would be interesting...
Dare I say it you'd be better off with a Williams Renault lump, even though the B16 is quite a nice engine. I also fear a 300's gear ratios will not really suit an engine that is crucial to be in the right powerband for decent performance.

Re: honda type r (B16B) powered 340???
This may be a daft question but dont the honda engines turn in the opposite direction? If so it wont work. Gears will all be turning in wrong direction!!!!

I think your right, the only one that goes the "right" way is the S2000 lump

yep ur all right the b16b spins the wrong way, suppose i could try and swap it on the 'bay' for the s2 lump but im pretty sure that fitting it would mean taking an angle grinder to the bulkhead?
