Fancy a weekend stripping a car?

Post by AUTOMAN »

Hi all,

More details to follow, but I am floating the idea of having a get together to strip my 360 GL.

The idea is for some of us to come to my house in Cardiff and strip my 360 GL for spares, which will be given away free of charge to anybody that may need anything.

I can accomidate if you don't mind sleeping on the floor. (Bring your own sleeping bag and pillow).

We can have Bacon Butties throughout the day, beer and curry at night.

The idea is to bring members of this and the the 300/66 of the VOC forum together to get to know eachother and have a laugh as well as strip down the 360 gl.

The project needs to be completed within the next month, as I have a new 360 GLT coming and need the space for parking it.

Bring your own tools etc and get your hands dirty.

If you don't come, you don't get to have anything free.

Please if you are interested, post possible dates below and we will get this all sorted out.

Hope to hear that there is a good deal of interest as how often does an opportunity like this come allong?

Ian.

I am looking for people to let me know some dates so that we can pick one that suites the most people. The more that come over, the better for all of us. What dates are good for you.

Here are the details and reasons why we will be doing this.

I am now out of hospital and have had time to look around both my GL & GLT, but the news is not good. Both cars need a fair amount of work and I have decided that for the greater good, the GL will have to be stripped of the GLT. This is the thing that made me sad. :( :( :(

My plans to use the GL as a daily car while I worked on the GLT had been thrown into the Sh*t and I was not happy.

I was looking through the VOC website and I noticed that a car that had been advertised on there was still available, so after communication with the seller, I have managed to secure that car for me. It is an F reg, bright red, 5-door GLT. This is what made me happy. :D :D :D

So now I have been thinking:
Why don't I ask some of my V300M friends if they would like any parts off the GL :?: :?: :?:
Why don't we have a get together over a weekend to get to meet up, strip the car, have a laugh etc... ?
I can accommodate if people don't mind sleeping on the floor in sleeping bags and we could munch bacon butties throughout the day, have a beer and a curry in the night and all take home parts from the GL free of charge. :!: :!: :!:

The only stipulations are:-
That you bring your own tools as I have none.
Are willing to get your hands dirty to help strip the car.
Everything is up for grabs.
No prior claims on anything.
If you don't attend or help, then you get nothing.
You must bring your own sleeping bag.
Provide your own booze.
We will not tolerate any loud or smelly farts inside the house.

If this sounds o.k. to you and you want to come and join in, even if you can't stay overnight, then get in touch. We must get this car stripped within the next month though, so please advise me of proffered dates below.

I hope that you will all join in with the spirit of the event.

After a 700 mile drive finding your way to Cardiff, getting to the door to fart should be no problem.

As for being in Belfast, what sort of excuse is that.. Lol.. Cheap flights to Cardiff Airport and we can get you picked up.

I can accommidate for 3 nights, say Friday, Saturday and Sunday, no problem.

How does either next weekend or the weekend of 21st-22nd of November sound to all? Please get back to me asap as the responce so far is a little dissappointing. Where else do you get the chance to get parts that you have been looking for free of charge and also get to meet people who can help you or you can help either now or in the future, as well as have a load of fun, great food and the excuse to get pissed if you want.

Come on chaps.

Hi all.
Right all you boys on the mainland. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Get your arse over to Cardiff and get some free parts.
If this event was happing in N .ireland ,i would bite your f**king hand off just to get there as parts are so rare.

I'm keeping quite as my availability isn't great at the moment. Meets like this have always been great fun before though, so I'm hoping things free up.

Definately in for updates, there are a few 360 handbrake parts I think may come in handy.

O.K. chaps, time to reply with ideas of a date or I will have to call this event off, as I have to make a decission on this car by the end of the week. I am trying to help you all out and also give us all a chance to make and meet friends, but I can not wait to long for answers. If nobody will committ to a date, then I will have to pay somebody to strip the car for me and then all parts will be at a price if you want them. If you want the whole car as it stands, then bring me £100 and its yours, but I must know by the end of the week.

Everything is up for grabs, interior, wings, doors, bootlid and bonnet which are in great condition, bumpers, wheels, lights, engine, gearbox, suspension, hubs, shell, glass, locks, clocks, etc..etc..etc.

Come on with your responces as the car must be stripped over one weekend, as the neighbours won't tollerate it taking longer.

Ian.
