UPDATE:-

Brakes going back together,

Final details of the engine bay,

from the N/S,

On its new tyres and refurbished wheels,

Brakes now done, engine run up and adjusted, lots of little niggles appearing - usual earth problems on rear lamps, indicators n/w (but hazards are fine), brake lights n/w (suspect switch). Still got to change the g/box oil and diff oil (will treat car to a "Mac" diff gasket kit). Washers were n/w (now fixed).

It is so clean and like new that it is unreal.

Mac, this is very inspiring thread, certainly makes me feel that I should do something to my car :D

I think that I have few sets of 13" steelies, I might do blasting to them if my compressor is going to work in co-operation with my another sand blasting unit. I had one unit but with that I got not much of effect, compressor is not very powerful one so might be too weak for blasting job, don't know.

When I only had a small compressor what UI did was rig up an old gas bottle as an additional cylinder. That way you once teh pressure is up you have a longer supply of air.

UPDATE:-

Thursday:-
A pleasant evening (cold) at the storage lock up has fixed the leccy gremlins (redid all the rear cluster earths, indicators were a manky fuse, brake lights were connection on switch, all bulbs replaced as a precaution). Even the (extreeeeeeemly nasty Phillips radio works).

Yesterday morning:-
All remaining fluids changed, extended running of engine showed up petrol seepage from the fabric covered hoses from the fuel pump to the main under chassis pipes - changed. Checked similar pipes at udder end - lots more seepage!! Problem was replacing them without dropping the tank (not enough room in boot access panel). Unclipping the pipes alongside g/box back to where they disappear into the box section allowed enough slack to draw the seeping sections into the boot area - Sorted!

Huuummmm! - running out of "get it back on the road jobs" - the awfull time approaches!

Looking all lonely and frightened,

Image
Image

The tester (a young sprog fresh out of I'll fail everything college) fixated for some reason on the rear spring hangers (absolutely nothing wrong with them) and a tiny chip on the windscreen at the extreme edge of the swept area - nevertheless:-

Image

woopie de wibble, bloop tiddle dee glook - dribble, more dribble - and no added advisories!!!!

And the emissions:-

Image

This morning:-
Taxed - and another one saved - next please!!

Well done, Mac :-) I'll bet the MOT tester never saw anything as clean as that in all his life ;-)

Nice one mac, good work on such a fast turn around. It looks lovely. Unfortunately my MOT test centre is plagued by one of them types too (I feel I can say this now I'm 24 and have a degree)

I always watch my MOT man if I'm there. Will be interesting when I get round to voluntarily putting my cars forward for NCT.
