Car is drivng like ass...

Post by OapEM »

Dunno where's best to put this, so here it is.

Does anyone with a welded diff and a drop experience a kind of kangarooing when moving off/slow cornering etc?

It makes me feel (not sure about look) like a learner driver when it occurs lol. Damn annoying. I'm thinking of reverting back to an open diff anyway, but think this only started after I fitted LR 90 shocks on the rear.

I'm thinking it may have a lot to do with still running standard oil in the front shocks - I will change it one day.

What do we think?

I guess that's the price you pay for the pleasure of a welded diff

The point of having an open diff is that both rear wheels can travel at different speeds while cornering which they obviously can't if you weld it shut. So yes, what you experience is 'normal' (I don't know if Land Rover shocks exacerbate this behaviour however)

Best appreciated when open.

Yeah, I want the wheels to turn independently again now.

I can only assume as the shocks are stiffer now that they don't dampen the effect as much and make it more noticeable.

just pleased I don't have any kind of performance exhaust that would amplify this carry on lol!

Cheers mate. it's not a major problem, just annoying at times. Especially with people in the car who don't 'get' modified cars. lol

The inside wheel's trying to travel as fast as the outside wheel, and as you've said, it's probably amplified now because you got stiff shocks.

Easy solution, kick it, it will not do that when both wheels are sliding evenly much
