Mk1 spotted....Pics added 9th Jan 2009

On my way home this evening I spotted what seems to be a Mk1 340 on a drive just a couple of streets from where I live. Its a 1979 on a V plate and has the separate nose cone and squared-off bonnet etc. It doesn't look like its moved in a while and I'm guessing the owner is a Volvo enthusiast as there is a 440 parked next to it.

I'll try and get some photos and if anyone wants me to make some enquiries to see if its for sale I'm happy to do so.

Is it brown?? I used to see a Mk1 345 quite regularly around Birmingham, where abouts is it?

I couldn't make out the colour and from what I could see its a 343 although the 440 was parked fairly close so I'm not totally certain. I'll have a better look in the daylight over the weekend.

Its in Brierley Hill by the way, not far from the Merry Hell Centre.

The Trabi WAS mine. I was house sitting whilst my mother was on holiday a couple of years ago. She lives on a hill and some mindless useless walking waste of skin and bone broke into a Transit truck parked further up the hill at 3am and released the handbrake. The truck rolled down the hill, hit the kirb just before the drop-down, took off and literally landed on the back of the Trabi. The rest as they say, is history.....

That's really unlucky. Looks like my old transit, 2.25 tonnes @ 20mph+ vs less than 3/4 tonne (??) Looks like the only thing that stopped it was the garage wall. In the words of Douglas Adams "death's too good for them"

I managed to get a couple of pics of the Mk1 340 on my way from the newsagent this morning. I used my mobile phone so the quality isn't brilliant but it's fairly apparent that the car is beyond redemption.

Looks just like mine only worse, the drivers door has probably dropped on it's hinges too by the look of it. If it hasn't had new sills at some time in the last ten years it's almost certainly needing them by the look of the rest of it. A piller looks nasty
