Hi everyone
Just a quick thread to to introduce myself and say hello!
I have just signed up today. I am a big car enthusiast, currently driving a Honda Civic Type S (new shape) which I absolutely love. This car is my work-horse, so im looking for something as a bit of a project/hobby.
I have recently stumbled across the 300 series and there's something about them that has really caught my eye!
Im planning on getting a 360 in the next couple of months as a bit of a project. I want something that is in good condition that i can upgrade, but dont want to race. I want to get it in a really good condition.
I will be keeping an eye on the forum for one in a good condition to buy over the next couple of months. Moneys a bit tight so I will be picking carefully!
I have been reading up on the different spec 300 cars and i think the 360 is the way to go. Is this my best choice for restoring and upgrading? I would like to eventually do some form of engine swap for something with a turbo.
Thank you in advance for any information you can offer. This forum seems very friendly and theres alot of information to be found! Im looking forward to getting my new car and getting involved with posting!
Luke

Welcome... if you do go for a 360, redblock turbo engines have a lot of potential. If you're used to driving your Honda you'll find these will be very different and much more involving!

Welcome to the forum dude.
If you're going for a 360, 2.3 turbo from the 940/740 series is certainly possible.
That'd give you rather a large portion of ooooooomph.

Thanks for the information guys. I will do some more research into the engine swap, however it isnt the main thing i want to do.
I seem to be struggling to find many of them for sale, which makes me want one more! I like that they are hard to get hold of.
Sorry Ian but i want something that i can tastefully enhance. I dont wish to destroy the car on a track of drift it. I want a project that I can restore and improve. I am only interested in upgrading the engine, as i plan to have the original one out anyway to properly service and clean up, so i may as well do that to something with a bit more power!
Thanks
Luke

That does sound interesting. I see the 940 is relatively cheap and easy to come by. is it a straight swap?volvosneverdie wrote:Welcome to the forum dude.

Dude, if you're used to your performance j-tin, you're going to find 300s very wallowy and rolly.
I would seriously seriously suggest lowering to combat both of the above.
With just rear blocks and shorter uprated front springs, the car becomes infinatly more drivable.
Cheapest way to get more fun out of the car if you're modding for pleasure.

Sounds like Adams 340 valver.
340s are Renault powered, so 1.8 16v Clio engines or 2.0 Williams Renault engines are a straight swap.
Very big hp gains.
If you fancy that route, seek a 1.7 340.
There's certainly choice dude. Both routes make exiting reliable upgrades from standard.

ok ill bare it in mind thanks. I need to find the perfect car first. Im in no big rush, id rather wait for the perfect one to come along. It seems as though this forum is the best place find a good car. Ebay and auto trader have very few. what can i expect to pay for either a 360 or 340 1.7 in good condition?volvosneverdie wrote:Sounds like Adams 340 valver.
