Brake fluid

Post by Tom »

Is there some kind of floating sensor inside the brake fluid tub? I ask because my brake fluid warning light flashes momentarily every now and then, and the fluid level is waaaay above minimum.

Cheers for any replies!!

Yes there is.

If it`s full, chances are the you have a short to earth or the float switch is dodgy.

Do you have wear sensors on the brake pads? Cant remember if my 360 did or not. Could be them if your pads are low and it happens when braking...

Cheers

Hi

340s dont have any brake pad warning system

the only reason the brake fluid light comes on is

a) the fluid level is getting low

( its comes on if the level is half way between max and min... i had a 340 where the level was between min and max and under acceleration the light would come on )

b) short to earth of the sensor

c) faulty sensor

good luck!!!

keep us posted what you find out

Brake warning light (!) also comes on when the oil warning light comes on. It's because the brake warning light wouldn't light up when you turn on the ignition power without that system. There is a jumpwire from earthing of the oil sensor to the brake warning light's earth and it has a diode in it so the oil light won't come on when the brake light does. :P

Shimon, the brake fluid is around about half way, and it only comes on under heavy acceleration. That must be the problem. Cheers mate.

Hi Tom!

Its a pleasure to help a fellow 340 owner!!!

BTW the light acts as a nice accelerometer in these cases... but it does tend to scare the passengers coz as you accelerate, the brake warning light comes on!!!

Enjoy your 340!!!!

The black rubber bit on top of the reservoir with an electrical sensor coming out of it is a tester, press it hard whilst the engine is running and the brake level warning light should light up.
