Sounds great. The museum (MOSI) in Manchester was fantastic so I reckon this could be even better, even though its a 8 hour round trip...ugh.

Yes, I'll have a few things but most of the stuff I'm taking is already sold.

Parking in York is expensive....
I know of a few places about 20 mins walk away which might be free to park on a sunday...But aren't great as a meet up point. If people are opposed to paying £7 just to park their cars, let me know and I'll suggest other parking places.
I.E there's big free car parks at the university, but it's a long way from the museum. :(

We could lift-share from the free car-parks to the expensive ones...only question is whether or not that's "right" for a car meet...whatdya think, guys?

£7 is steep, lift share idea could be good. I'm surprised they don't give you a refund if you actually tour the museum. The tour price obviously is only good enough for the residents of york...

Are there any free car parks near a train station? (that way we could get the train down to the museum).

Have to say though that makes sense, seems silly us all paying £7 for most people with say 1 person in their car. We can always join up back to the free car park for the usual banter after.

there is also various park and rides offering free parking, and a cheap run into/past the museum. (i think they use volvo engines if that counts :? )

having said that, for a full days parking, somewere to meet up, and the convenience its not all that bad, given that the museum is free. but yeah, the tight arse yorkshireman in me says fook that!

I'll be willing to pay for the car park cos it looks like if I do come in a 300 it'll be the GLS. I'd feel better leaving it at the museum rather than on street/multistory etc. (if it was the other one I wouldn't be so worried). We went a couple of years ago and car park had plenty of space and felt secure. Is there any Sunday parking for free? If not, a days parking could still cost as much as £10 even on a Sunday in some council run car parks and we've still got to get to the museum (just had a quick look on various York car park websites). I can give 2 people a lift in, whatever vehicle I'm in (will be 3 in the car already)

Might be worth ringing NRM to see if we can get a discount for a group :D Theres stuff on their website about discounts on things at the museum for group booking.
