new engine conversion for 1.4 340
new engine conversion for 1.4 340
just fount out some info about another pretty good conversion for a 1.4 340
i friend of mine tells me that the Renault twingo 1.6 turbo bolts into Renault 5 so in theory it will bolt into
a 340 now i haven't done this and probably new wont as there pretty new engine so not they have not come down in price yet
but they have got 130hp standard and my friends is running 180ish with upping boost and a remap and ic
so it would make a better swop than the Renault 5 in theory
just thought i would tell you guys about this as i think its a brilliant conversion to do
so what are peoples thoughts

Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
The only problemi could see is if he Twingo engine bolts into the R5 on a R5 gearbox or a Twingo box.

Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
well from what ive been told is that the twingo engine bolts to the r5 gearbox
so in theory if it bolts to the r5 gb then surely it would bolt up to a 340 gearbox as the bolt pattern would be the same
i dont know if it would work just from what some one has told me so could be a loud of b

Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
r5's gearbox pattern matches the 300's 1.4 bellhousing pattern
only catch i can think of is that the engine still has to be C of F family in order to fit and use Renix with TDC sender on the flywheel for the ignition

Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
you would probably have to loose all that sort of ignition and either get the standard ecu working
or fit something like mega jolt

Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
Is the sump bolt pattern the same? As for the R5 they might not need to swap sumps.

If only that wasn't quite so rare AND quite so shiney, that'd be a bit of fun in a 300

Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
it's on my to do list anyways

that is nowhere near a conversion just as easy as the 1.4 GTT lump! lot more mod's required for 300 fitment

I'm sure i recognise that and it states it's in Surrey like me.
Thats a helluva lot of money though for a lefty, seen tidy right handers going for less, almost bought one when i got my 5 Turbo, kind of wish i had now as my 5 was the most unreliable car in the world

Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
In the flesh a guy has one near me, but i don't think it's that one.
Other than that this is true, although there was 3 or 4 for sale whan i was looking just over 2yrs ago.

Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
Saw one today, in black. It could just be a 1.4 with badges on though
Re: new engine conversion for 1.4 340
But was it an early 5? i.e. not a super 5? I don't think I've seen one in the wild for a good 10 years.
