360 GLS rebuilt

i have Volvo 360 GLS, 1983 model. the car
was built for UK. was sold to its first owner there. by the dealer named Central Garage Ltd.
Newport. some years later the car was already in Germany. was brought to me in 1994. front
lights were replaced already. my job was to rebuild the steering etc. have driven it since that
about 68000 miles. very good car. only problem is rust and minor problem is the speedo cable. i
like it lot more than my newer 460 GLE.

difficulty was to find items for
replacement in Estonia 9 years ago. i needed to replace dashboard panel, wiring behind the
dashboard, steering mechanism, item with the pedals on it, two brake lines from master cylinder
to the pressure regulating item. and i needed to remove the seat heater from the right and put it
into the left front seat-the car had driver`seat heater only.
460 seems to me as sth between vw and nissan or sth else. it has no its unique face and
needs more spares and these cost more. 360 is different. i have tried to keep 240 and 740 and
did not enjoy them (driving mostly).
one of my friends said about the 360: this car is much better and enjoyable than it looks from
outside and for people, who havent driven them...(he was a used car salesman).

There is no doubt, with so much rust, the car is from England

it had very little rust before it was brought to Estonia. but here lots of salt is thrown down on the roads just to prevent slippery conditions during the winter. i have had two minor traffic accidents - right front wing and door were replaced and back was repaired other time. they just put on 340 rear bumper and i have not found original one with chrome details yet...
the lower sticker is from UK, the other one is about gsm-parking (windshield)...engine and all other technics works perfect - i actually love this car...

the car is waiting for little welding, painting now. if i can, i shall try to take some photos during that process too...

dude! what font is that on the dash? i've never seen one like that before. very odd..

Yeah it was the font used untill 1984, with the Smiths cluster... (like on my 340 DL vario)



VDO cluster uses another font.

BUT there is somewhere on the dashboard a place where the 'old font' was always used... The clock near the ashtray!
