Was a bit concerned over a high idle the other day, so pulled out the wrong tool (thick feeler gauge - nice and long...) turned the screw and got a nice almost powerful sounding rumble from the exhaust, i think it's ticking about 550RPM quite happily, though can conk out or be lumpy if cold... partly down to loose airbox, need a self tapper going in there, if not a bolt and locknuts.
This got me thinking about a nice louder exhaust, less baffle, more pipe Would like to get the odd surviving flame+Pop! out of the exhaust, yes... my micra used to do superb pops when coming down the revs, "I am a rally car really"
How can I remove enough baffle and fluff to make it possible?
What exhaust?
Re: What exhaust?
My backbox is one that you can see trought when looked from one end to another, of course it has some silencing stuff in it, but thing is madly loud. Not quite so as it was with hotter cam, but still way too loud for my liking, I mean doing 800 miles with stopping only for gas will keep your ears ringing for good part of next day, but when there were lots of air leaks and idle mixture screw stuck so carb was very badly off from adjustments, it did pop quite some amount.
However I believe that most from popping is silenced at first silencer, put something more open to there and maybe 340 diesel back box and you should have popping.
edit: This is if you have 360 with B200K, don't know much about smaller motors.
One more thing, with B200K there is idle cut off solenoid, it tries to stop fuel being drawn into engine during engine braking which of course kills any popping too, also it acts as anti dieseling device.
