Hello, It´s my first post. I´m from spain and my english is very bad endeed, sorry.
I have a volvo 340 GL, a 1.7 engine:

Car runs very well, but when I´m turning very fast engine stop sudenly, and at the moment it runs other time. I change the fuel pump and it runs better, but if you go very fast it do the same. Any solution? My first fuel pump has 1 inlet and 2 outlet, and the "new" (2ª hand) has 1 inlet and 1 outlet, but it has a fuel presure regulator (I think) that has 2 outlet, 1 to the fuel thank, the old pump hasn´t got it.

I would like so to have any more hp, any cheap and easy mod? For example I think in a renault carburetor, thar it the same whit different venturis and jets, and renault has 90 hp.

So, I would like a LSD, but I don´t find anything. Is a weldded diff a god solution? Problems whit it? I use the car in asfalt.

Best regards, excuse for my enghlis.

you'll run into a few problems with using the renault carb..
volvo re-designed this engine to be very-very economical if the driver wants it, one of the things how this is done by an abnormal amount of advance and minimal fuelling under partial load

just throwing a carb on it with bigger jets will be a big guess between powerloss and powergain; with a 95% chance of powerloss.

the fuel pump situation sounds fermiliar, there are indeed 2 different setups however; you can't mix the 2... have you changed the filters and flexible fuel hoses (also the 2 on top of the fuel tank)?

Are you sure its a loss of fuel when cornering???

Could be loss of spark, Have you checked all the wiring under the bonnet.

Check:

Earthing straps,
Battery leads,
Ignition wiring, renix unit (main coil lead comes from this) wiring, Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Anti-Run-On, Fuel cut-off solenoid wiring, if it comes loose or shorts it will stop the engine too.

Cutting out when cornering is most likely float heights needing adjustment

Hello, a lot of thanks for your answers. Problems are only in corners, when I go very very fast. At the first I think the problem was the float level and I change it a lot of times whit differents leves, but the problem was the fuel pump (I have a filter before the pump and it wasn´t fuel in corners), when I change it I didn´t change the float level and it´s a very down that the normal level, I have to revise the float level I think.
Volvodspec I don´t undertand your answer (problem whit my english), Whit the renault carb in my engine I will have less hp? Any set up to the advance? In my other old car change advance is very very easy and I have a timming light, but I don´t know if the volvo is the same and if it´s easy.
I have seen this:

Is it to change advance ignition?

Best regards, Ruben.
