Newby from Essex

Post by stevesrc » 28 May 2010 01:06 am

Hi everyone I'm steve,

New to this site and thought it would be best to introduce myself. I have a 340 thats been fitted with a F7P, I originally got it just to have a little fun in and drift about in but after a year of owning it I have grown to really like its retroness and decided to give it some loving ( still going to get drifted though sorry :) ).
Plans so far are to loose the engine management and run it on bike carbs and maybe a F7R. Should have the carbs and manifold from Bogg Brothers next week, Also have a Williams exhaust manifold to go on but need to get an exhaust made up as the original one is a bit of a bodge.

Well here are some pics

Is that olive drab or NATO green paint? Either way, it looks good!

Good to see a drifter on here that hasn't trashed their car as well :)

Yeah carbs cause more problems than they are worth. Good sound can be achieved by installing a decent exhaust system and intake :D Nice car though, don't get me wrong, we aren't "anti drifting", just against trashing of decent cars. Looks like yours is a nice one though, army paint ftw.

It was a right shed when i got it. The engine was seized solid where water had got in the bores and it had been painted badly in orange so thought olive drab would look cool :). did have it on the road last summer for a bit but been parked up since then, Its taken ages just to get it up to scratch, Does help owning my own garage though.

There is two reasons for doing away with the management, First is I can get my heater blower box back in with out having to mod the inlet manifold and Two there is problems with the management. Who ever fitted the engine in the past done a rubbish job of it and its got water in ever thing over the winter and now over fuels badly. Plus carbs sound so sweet :). I was bought up on tuning old fords running webbers and love the sound of them.

Surely an IRTB setup would give you the same kind of space as a twin weber manifold... totally the way forward! Shame the management hasn't been installed too well so far though but 340GLT could help you out with a loom which I gather is very easy to wire in.

Hi all,

Well been busy with the old girl the last few weeks and got a lot done.

First of all The injection out and bike carbs in :) well what a difference, cars feels so much more alive and really love to rev now
Got my Williams exhaust manifold on and new down pipe made up and exhaust system to match, This made a big difference as well. Plus got all the little things sorted like speedo, heater blower box back in and a rev counter.

But during a bit of spirited driving during the week we had a little mishap with the prop coming off and snapping off the input shaft housing, Oops

Well some more pics, Good and bad lol
