That's where the switch for your rear fog lights should be.

I was going to say... my MX5 (Eunos Roadster import) had an exhaust gas temp light... basically if the cat gets too hot the light lights up... does that mean maybe your car is ex japanese?

find the sensor on the exhaust, there'll be something (probably) cant't gurantee it has a real sensor... that's like something off a mig fulcrum. http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/ai ... ulcrum.jpg

there has to be some sensor on the exhaust, find it and check its connector.

does the light stay on all the time, or come on after a while?

so overheating cat...
Main reasons for this:

Timing belt slipped,
Exhaust valve stuck open,
Mixture issues,
Timing Issues,
Misfiring,

Generally :Fuel getting into exhaust and burning in the cat instead.

Also could be due to a clogged catalyst,

That's all I know.

actually any part of the exhaust, silencer, backbox, they can clog near the joins too.

Could be a bad sensor.
