stock material works fine for the stock power.
good pedal adjustment helps with the life of the clutch

if you're going over 100bhp you want to look at a clutch upgrade.

ah ok thanks for clearing that up - yeah my pedal has about 2 inches of slack *shock horror* keep wanting to sort it out but its just bloody raining all the time and when it isnt im busy. eurgh.
im surprised my clutch died so quickly though - it was replaced in 2005 according to the service history and covered 800 thousand miles since then and ive done only 3 or 4 burnouts without going nuts on the clutch dropping and its shagged already which i find weird considering my friends fiesta (1.3) has held up to a year of constant wheelspins and reverse to firsts - and everytime he drives he does them yet its still fine. could it be just the cable perhaps thats made it die so quick as i didnt have nay play in the pedal when i fisrt got it :( ?

Sounds like bad adjustment, my clutch (standard 1.7 re-machined one off ebay) has lasted 15k of abuse with 160bhp behind it  Slips a bit now but that's more due to driver error than bad materials
