Truck / train horns in a 340,why not? Undergroud video added

Finally got round to sorting my air horns, these arent the puffy ones that use a compressor blowing straight to the horns these need an air tank. They are seriously loud and dont half make people jump then they start looking for a truck never suspect a car haha. Havent had them in to long and havent completed the install, will have the compressor connected all the time when done so will be able to blow the tank up on the move. But have already had a lot of fun. Will try sort a video soon, heres some pics. If any one is interested in doing it them selfs i can let you know where to get all the parts i have used. Feel free to ask any questions.









I will sort something to hold the tank better soon, but that does the job for now.

i'd mount them behind the front bumper; enough space to keep them away from direct moisture as they are now and even louder for people outside
and another advantage is that you can fit the spare tyre in the engine bay again

You could use a smaller air tank, but thats the only one i could find to buy after a fair bit of looking with out having to get it shipped from america. Its about 24 liters, i didnt think it was that big to be honest. I was going to adapt an old gas tank which would of been smaller but more work so just brought that one. The wiring is pretty simple, theres two valves on the horns that when i flick a switch open one shortly after the other to give a two tone sound.

Hahaha, i have blown them down in the below ground bit of the moto car park a little out side of bridgwater. The sound was insane, when i come out there were loads of people looking out the travel lodge windows to see what it was hahahaha.

The problem with video is you can never really tell how loud it is as cameras automatically adjust volume. The only true way is to do it somewhere with echos or reacting parties at varied distances

True will have to go taunton some time when its really busy and set some friends about with cameras. And i will get one in the bottom of the multi-storeywhen i can.

Sure, they come from a truck (a good friend`s grandfather had them back in the `80),and are made in Italy. The source of compressed air is a huge compressor (weird, but it works on 12 V) and that`s it. I`ll post a picture with the compressor. Btw, I spend 2 hours trying to figure where to mount them, in the end I dropped the compressor with a bracket under the MAF. Oh, and they sound like in a movie with Louis de Funes.
