Wanted: 3-Door mk2, for Preservation/Collector

Post by retrocool73 » 16 Oct 2010 11:55 pm

Having just discovered that Pikey's have stolen my mk2 3-Door last week I am after another. Mine was a metallic blue 1985 GL with electric windows, plush interior, original radio and rear spoiler with low mileage and I am looking for similar - or at least one that can be made similar. Mine needed bodywork (arches, wings, front panel) but was solid and smar enough to warrant the work
I would prefer a car that didn't need all that work, but one that was a nice colour, decent spec and hadn't been messed about with... I've got of mk3's & plenty of 5-doors, I only want a UK mk2 & a 3-door.

Pricey, but I guess it must be right. And right it would be, colour-wise & spec, especially if I could locate a mk2 boot spoiler

What do the non-injection mk2 360's go like in comparison to the fuel-injected later GLT's?

Fairly similar I think although the injections are more reliable.

Never had any bother with my mk2 360 GLS save for stripping and cleaning the carb and a new fuel pump. The car had sat for 15 years though.

Having driven both i personally prefer the carb.

That one was sold on eBay a couple of weeks ago, the elderly owner was asking £1450 for it then. I was thinking about buying it but it was oop north and difficult to get to for me.

So the bloke who bought it thinks he can make a grand or so profit in a few weeks by the looks of it.

To put it in to perspective I've just bought a 1986 360 GLEi with leather, aircon and only 36k miles, in showroom condition, for less than this bloke is asking. He's a chancer, I reckon he'll be stuck with it and end up taking under £1500 to shift it before too long. I heard from other sources on here that the guy who bought it was going to use it as a daily driver, but that looks like a line he spun the old man to get it on the cheap now.

As I thought, 3 months on and the buyer is still trying to flog it. On eBay again now starting at £1k - no bids yet. Looks like he's going to take a bath on it.

If the OP is still about, this must be the car he's after.

I'm still about! Might take a punt at this price, it might be a nice car but it (was) a tad over-priced was it not?

Best appreciated when open.
I probably should have specified ladies legs in there too. [+=] "embarrarrased emoticon"[].com

It was. I paid 2k (eeeeek) for an immaculate D reg 4 door GLEi SE with leather seats and aircon, with only 36k on the clock and 1 owner from new. I reckon I'd have paid a grand for this two door.
