Volvo 340/360 rolling shell 3 door
Hi all
im after a rolling shell either 340 or 360, preferably 3 door and in kent or london ish area (dont mind traveling a little bit)
engine not required/important. Interior not required. Wiring loom not required. And im not afraid of a little rust.
So maybe if anyone got one they've been using for spares, or is too far gone to put back on the road let me know!
I do need it to be rolling though. Preferably with a gearbox still fitted.

Will now also now accept a bare shell, with doors, bonnet and boot lid.
Condition not important, even terminally rusty or crash damaged!

I'm going to be stripping just about everything off a 360 GLS sometime in the near future. It's in a very bad way to look at but the shell is actually pretty solid as far as I can see apart from the rear suspension mounts which are very bad, there is also a big rust hole in the roof and big rust hole through the boot floor where the spare sits. The doors are also a write off. I'm probably taking everything off including engine, transmission and suspension for a project (even the windscreen). I don't have a V5 but it may be possible to get one as I don't think it's reported as scrapped. I don't know if it's too far gone rust wise but I was going to store the shell rather than scrap it. It seemed a waste, as they will become rare one day! esp a 3 door Mk 2 2 litre.

I would be intrested, it sounds about right for what im after. Im not too bothered about the rust, cos most of the floor would be removed and the shell dropped over a spaceframe chassis. Hence why i dont require any of the running gear! I did want to run it with the volvo gearbox, but i cant get the gearing i need. Its going to be an oval track hotrod. As far as i know no one has made one from a volvo, so should be fun!
The only problem is your location! Where abouts would the car need collecting from?

I'm in Doncaster, so collection would be from here! Sounds like it would be good for a hot-rod as the rear suspension point rust wouldn't matter then! you'd need a pair of doors (cos of rust) and a boot lid as I was going to keep that as a spare and/or poss replacement for another cars boot. Bonnet's fine as I swapped the original rusty one for a good one off a banger racing car. I still need to strip the car but I need to do it soon anyway cos it's causing a blockage in the drive!

I know, its going to be expensive to transport it when you might find one nearer to you. I'm going to try to store the shell if I can for free very near to me so it should still be around for a while anyway.

I did see the advert for thar one, but it was a bit more than i wanted to pay, its clearly a good shell, and worth the money, but all the hard work thats gone into it would be wasted on me, cos im gonna chop most of it out! Hence looking for a rusty/crashed/broken one. Seems a shame to chop up such a nice one when a crap one will do me fine!

If all else fails, I could deliver Andy's bronze GLS shell to you, as I've got to head south with a trailer before too long anyway. It still won't be cheap, but I could split the costs with you?

I have a crashed one and a rusty one for parts to rebuild the crashed one!
You can have the saloon shell for free once it is stripped, sometime between Christmas and New Year in Worcester. It won't be rolling but will have doors, bootlid (see pic, slightly bent but probably not a problem) and a bonnet with a sharp crease in a slightly lighter blue from the crashed car, you could probably straighten it with a hammer for your purpose! Won't have bumpers, lights, plastic trim and probably won't have glass, none of which I think you'd need. Let me know if you're interested. The offside front wing/corner of the valance is totally rotten but still complete/intact looking, there is rust under the header tank in the engine bay and the slam panel has disturbing rust on it.

I went to look at that shell... and decided that mine wasn't so bad after all, even the donor saloon I'm giving away is much more solid than that, it has no front valance, the sills and inner wings haven't been touched, the welding looked like it was just patching up where there were actually holes. It's a wonder how words and selective photography can deceive you!
