Post by valman »

not got any plans for it really apart from sounds, stance might be altered end of spring or so, will have to see, its just too good to spoil.

That looks really clean! I'd agree with not altering it too much if it's mint, sometimes less is more :P how many miles? If you make changes that are reversible, like a bit of lowering and different wheels then you can have a big impact while retaining it's original look. Looks good in red, interior looks mint too.

cheers for the comments, its done just under 60k i think, but it says 11000 on the clock as these were replaced a couple of years ago as the old speedo broke. this car was owned by one lady owner from new, and was sold on to me as she was too old to drive, it was serviced at the same garage all its life and came with every receipt and mot certificate, its got everysingle bit of history, looks like the most major job its had done was the crank seals being replaced! and just usual consumables. i'll try get better pictures of it in the holidays as ill have a camera then. you might be wondering whats happening to the other two 340s i have, and the a reg one is going to be sold to a good freind of mine once i replace the engine support beam as i bent that  . then the red one is going to be lowered some more pretty soon and all the rust will be taken care of.
im planning to put the 5 speed into it from my other 340 to improve fuel consumption as i do 300 odd miles on motorways a week, anyone done this before? i presume the diffs are the same

Nope diffs are different, you'll need a 5 spd diff unit to go along with the box

Hi

Just wanted to say congrats on another one. Its look in lovely condition. You did well with that one, but as someone has said, lowering it may alter the original look it has now. Enjoy her (or him??) anyway. Happy motoring.

little update, some nonce in a van decided to not move over on a tight lane and jsut stopped where he was instead of moving into the 1.5 feet of road he had to the left of him  , having no abs and a muddy road meant having to pump the brakes and i only just managed to miss him! left a slight scuff all the way down his car but it meant i had to go between him and a 30 post, resulting in this:

its upsetting more than anything because this was a really really tidy car :( didnt get any numbers or anything because it wasnt anyones fault. and id rather not get another claim under my belt.
also had some idling issues yesterday which were caused by loose nuts on the carb! nice and easy 5 minute fix atleast :)

Best appreciated when open.

If he was stationary an insurance company would say it was your fault, pure and simple.

Was your speed excessive??

Sounds like an urban myth to me :?

Put it another way if you stopped on a country lane and another vehicle didn't striking yours would you shrug your shoulders and say,"ah well no white line it's knock for knock".
'Cos I sure as $hit wouldn't

might have to take you up on that actually!! pm me a price please :)

and as far as speeds go, i was just coming into a national and he was just leaving it so i was going 35 in the last 100 or so yards of the 30 limit :( but then again i dont think the 5mph would make a difference, i was still going 15 if not 20 as i made it through the "gap" that i had haha

reason i didnt get a number was because i thought i was in the wrong for going a bit over the limit and should have thought better about it as it was a single lane road, but then again, he should have made an effort to avoid me too
