That was another thing. They were/are sooo cheap to insure! Even better them being RWD too. I laugh at all the saxo/corsa 1.2 £2500+ insurance. HA!

And speedy, I know exactly what you mean about the student loan, guess how i afford everything!

Drifting.

The car has grown on me though. I'm still not their biggest fan, but I love the fact they're cheap. Spending big money on cars is something I regret/resent.

I am big into old Jap cars, and seeing as there is a massive scene for that now which has as good as priced me out - of anything I would want to buy, I thought why not chuck a few quid at the ugly duckling and have a laugh instead.

244 GLT looks a BEAST!, I was looking at them for a whilebut theyre too thirsty for my pockets.
----

((Weirdly enough, I actually saw them about when I was younger and thought they were cool In my mind as a kid, they were straight lines and 90 degree angles, exactly what cars should look like))
I agree, they just look like cars, no silly crap.

----

I like the train adventures to get to cars, three in a row have been gotten to that way now.
It is good fun!!

MKII Vario has a very nice cockpit, absolutely 80's!, kindof like a fighter jet,

Running costs are basically zero so long as you do put oil in now and again..

I had a 360 when I was 16, (£30) it had 98k and notchy gears, bald tyre, hole in rad..
it never overheated!!, did drink a lot of fuel tho.
I always liked the 360, a TANK if ever there was one, great grip on the rear
(I let my mate have a "go", he shot round a corner at 40 on about half lock and
i'm thinking the back end would go out and kill a kid on the side of the road,
it just leaned over 45o and went where he wanted it to go.. I was like Whooaaaa!!!.)

The only other cars I like are old jags, yes they rot and skin you alive but they clear 130MPH with absolute ease
and the handling is spot on at speed. (maybe mk4 escorts in radiant red but thats just my personal nostalgia, oh and datsuns  )

PS. one day I will figure out how to use "Quote"

I do like the mk4 eccy's, not xr3 or rs, just "L", 5 door, painted bumpers and mirrors + doglegs, look the business. leave the rest of it ALONE!!, smoked lights and clear indicators, vents in the bonnet that do nothing.. GAY!, I like the way when they lose rear end grip they really spin out of control, need to be ninja quick to get them back.. very exciting!

Them volvos do look good!, BRUUUUUUTAL!

My 240GLT I had last year was a beast, wish I'd had the money to keep it. Bang the slusher in D and away she goes, making a very v6 noise from the NA 2.3. Inside was like a leather cathedral, shame the headlights would turn off at will.

Isa that your car, it looks fantastic. What you need in there is the proper period stereo.

Fixed your missing quotes there. (Posting from a mobile device?)

I love it.

I do need a period stereo. I need to stick a hole in the roof first. And find some rear speakers too while I'm at it. And probably a Volvo amp or similar whilst I'm at it.

Do you have a 4 Microprocessor stashed Mark?

The big question is: Where do I then put the 1½ litres of drink?

Doorcards? You mean a fascia adaptor panel for the over-sized radio hole?

I've got an old type one for a two spindle radio

Or this:

For a standard DIN slot.

Any 200 series low mount though isn't it?

Ah yest. Door bins or door pockets then as attached to the bottom of the door cards.

I've got a pair somewhere, not sure what colour they are though, they were from a 360GLS. I don't have the two top plastic hooks that each top corner slides over and three screws hold it on the bottom edge.

I'm quite partial to the poverty spec though.

V3M made me get into Volvos, would not never got 360 if it would not been V3M where I did read truth about these cars, about everyone around me told them to be unreliable piece of crap etc.

Sure pleasant memories of several Volvos as passenger did help.

OT: Why on earth they ever dropped that beautiful dashboard out at later models? Would love to have dashboard like that, so I guess I really need to get that Mk1 bought.
