cheers guys :D

manifold was all done
Image
Image
Image

so i reorganized the shop a little and took the engine bay out of our garden, that last bit made my mom very happy
after that the B14.4T went on a stand and into the workshop
Image

oildrain, drilled at an angle
Image
welded, had to correct it with feed at one place because the hole was a bit oval, shame because it was a beautifull weld :(
Image

so here's why it needed an angle  you can also see that because of the oval hole i decided to weld the other end of the flange too.
Image

first bends to align the pipe
Image

and the last piece welded on wich lines up the 2 pipes perfectly. this last bit also has a ring on it to clamp the hose in place.
Image

wastegate bracket also done
Image
Image
Image
Image

next are a few braces for the manifold and it's time to order a few parts for the oil feed and downpipe :)

plan is to finish this entire sub-assembly today, have to attach the throttle cable support and weld hose humps to each pipe to prevent the hoses from blowing off the pipes and after that clean the entire thing, grind the excess bits etc. think it will look good when it's all done :)

I love those stainless water pipes - so much better than the stock rubber hoses that always leak and are impossible to get hold of!

alingned the 2 V-band flanges, had to skim a bit off the converter that bolts to the turbo on the lathe
Image

welded the first bend to the V-band flange
Image

studs for the turbo were too long, so i shortened them and added thread on the right side to make them perfect suiting
Image
Image

finished the wastegate actuator bracket
Image

flanged the stainless coolant pipes, also redid the long one from turbo to waterpump on the post above as i was afraid this one would fail over time; this now consists of 2 pipes.
Image

welded a pair of manifold support braces
Image
Image
Image
Image

pre-assembled the whole lot
Image
Image
Image

out with the old engine; the overhead crane (2x 6,5T) was a bit overkill though
Image

and here comes the 6-cyl Mercedes Benz turbodiesel and ZF 9-gear powershift transmission conversion...
Image

in fact, with just the gearbox the engine bay was full

in with the B14.4T
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

and nog i'm waiting for parts, my hands are itching to get this thing going again

made radiator support bracket as with the 2 bottom mounts alone the flex in the frontbeam's steel was a bit too much
Image
Image
Image
Image

stainless steel offcourse :D now it's solid as a rock i can even stand on it

stainless bolts for the alternator were still missing, so i made a new set
Image

so no more of this:
Image
sm4

all together:
Image

will need to get another cooling fan powdercoated, since this one was damaged when one of the bolts ran loose..
Image

and started on the fuelling, uprated fuelpump and a kingsize fuel filter. old vs new:
Image

i won't make mounts for it till i know where they'll end up under the car though

I probably should have specified ladies legs in there too. [+=] "embarrarrased emoticon"[].com
