Someone with a more scientific brain pointed out to them that the stability of the element also meant you have to fight like anything to get power from it.

It's a bit like a stick of celery taking more energy to chew than it gives out ;)

Doc Brown postulated that in the future cars will run on Plutonium, then eventially, household waste.
Then Steam.

Of course, none of this is garunteed.

And one of the side effects seems to have been micheal Parkinsons disease.

Or just live in America. They moan, but they're paying nowhere near as much as us and the rest of Europe!

This is true. But the price of wars to keep the gas (american petrol) prices down, are usually quite steep.
If you factor in the price of war, its probably not as low as the pump price.

Also my american friends say it works out more expensive anyway as everything is further away. For example the local "Walmart" could be 20 miles away.

Itd be nearer if you lived closer though. To be fair.

Not everything in aerica can be further away.

Friends and family? Commute to work? Just think about our country, but spread out over 3 times the area (its actually more than that but generally average distances are multiplied by 3 due to their decent road systems). Stop arguing with me!

I'd say the Doc is pretty bloody close if only the masses weren't as scared as they are.

It's not as cut and dried as "Nuclear is bad". Best thing (in Chris' mind ;)) we could do is get the general populous to learn about the different types. Then they wouldn't be quite so polarised.

Make glow sticks, put them in a steam boiler, use the heat generated from the glow sticks to make steam, use steam turbine to make electrics. Use the electrics to make lots of Tesla Roadster chassis drive 300's.
