if you have new front suspension id leave it for now mate and let it all bed in, surprised how long it takes for it all to settle down!

Ah, too late. Raised it up at the back to standard again, for now. I'll probably got -1" when I get the 9s on the rear.

Got some bolts to replace the manifold studs, and some rad weld to stop the disappearing coolant!

its a different brand, apparently better. Wynn's radiator stop leak. never used any stuff before, so i dunno. ive heard actual "rad weld" is crap.

185 55s on the 9s, used to be 175 50s.

i have 8j rear 7j front but they are all 185/60/14s all round but look to chunky thinking of putting 185/50s on all round. :D you have a cool car there dude :)

A Renault Clio 16v.

Don't think you guys got them mate. The Volvo 340 has Renault based 1400 and 1700 engines and as such they have a lot in common with the engine from the mk1 Clios so are relatively bolt in.

The 360 is Volvo based, so they lend themselves well to the turbo motors from the 200/700's etc. Although neither of those options would be any good for your current situation. :lol:

Cheers guys!

Still no MOT yet, I'm missing driving a lot right now! But most of the stuff has been sorted (wheel bearing, gaiter, and the lamp shorting problem) Sweet.

Track rod was a bugger to get off! 27 years of rust had caused it to become one with its thread. A lil bit of hacksawing later and I had it off, slipped on the gaiter and put a new rod end on. I'll do the other side after MOT, as I don't want to mess around too much and rush it.

Last thing to do is to bleed the rear brakes, as one of them wasn't putting out enough force. This is the thing I'll be unsure about before it goes to MOT. It could be the wheel cylinder for all I know. We'll just have to wait and see. I have replacement wheel cylinders, but can't for the life of me get the rigid lines out of the old cylinders. When I come to replace them, I'll do the works, I.e. copper rigid line, braided hose and new cylinders. The old rigid lines will need to be cut off to take the old cylinders of. they will not budge.

This was the colour of the brake fluid that came out. No photo enhancements here! :?

Later, I took him for the re-test. Failed, on the same dam cylinder. Guh. I'll get some new copper lines made up for the rear then! I can then wack on the new cylinders, and that SHOULD solve the problem.

Today, took the plugs out to check them, as when I gave some welly on the throttle, he sounded like a scooby. Turns out one of the o ring seals that stops oil getting out of the head isn't present, leaking oil into the plug chamber, where the HT lead connects to it. That HT lead is fubard because of the oil, so I've got new plugs and leads coming for the engine too.

Dude, it's likely not the cyl...

When you've got the drum off, have a wiggle of all the linkages. They rust up if not properly done (green books ftw) and then you get absolutely no effect at all.

Cheers Chris. Turns out the cylinder is nakerd. Got everything on order like the copper piping etc. Also got an oil seal for the spark plug tube coming too.

On a lighter note, got the new spoiler on that I bought of broady, and some wiper blanking rubber jobs that I bought of Mat91. Gave him a proper was too! I'll grab pics soon.

Everything but the hoses arrived today, so I managed to get a lot done. New wheel cylinders, lines, and HT leads all done, checked spark plugs and cleaned everything too. The offending wheel cylinders was seized beyond belief. Don't know why I didn't spot it sooner!

Checked the park plugs to see what was up with the ignition under load, found this in cylinder 1. Ah. No oil in the cylinder, just around the plug top. It had leaked through the top plastic cover where the HT lead routing is (dodgy o-ring) and pooled on it, creating a very dodgy connection between plug and lead.

I replaced the o-ring, cleaned the plugs, swapped the HT leads. Found that the same HT lead connected to the oily plug was badly corroded. No wonder it was misfiring under load! Cleaned the distributor, plug in the HT leads, and everythings peachy :D The magnecor leads fit bloody well inside the plug tube! Way better than the standard/hellfrauds ones on there previously.

I then replaced the cylinders and copper lines at the rear.

Also fitted a mocked up bracket drawn in CAD and 3D printed to secure the pipe line on the right hand side of the engine.
