My valver conversion 'Help me thread'

Post by billkent22 » 03 Jul 2011 01:44 am

Hello, I need to ask a few questions (for now) and I know people on here are very helpful and very knowledgable!

I have searched google and this site for the answers but I'm sorrt if they are availabe elsewhere.

I need to know:

What spigot bearing do I need, can one be used from a different car I.e one that's more available

What. Size/type of bolts do I need for tge 1.7 bellhousing to fit? I know obv 1.7 340 ones fit but can't find them anywhere!

Refering to 'John-ovlov's 'How-to' thread: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... to+convert

I am a little bit baffled by where the top most outlet from the thermostat housing goes to on the header tank because there is two small outlets on the side of it, one with a pipe that goes to the rad and one thats not got a pipe attatched atm and one bigger outlet that goes to the rad?

Can anyone shed some light.

Also i want to buy a couple of hoses but not sure on the diameter i would require?

The top most outlet (very top left, left of clio temp sender) goes to the header tank outlet that has no hose on it currently. Leave the other two attached. The bottom hose from the header tank feeds the rad, the other small hose that goes to the rad is a breather of sorts. From the thermostat housing to the header tank, this completes the circuit.

The top most small outlet goes to the left hand opening on the coolant reservoir tank
Largest outlet to top radiator outlet
Outlet directly facing bulkhead blanked off
Last outlet to heater matrix (if using heaters)
If you were converting a 1.7, both header tank top outlets would be used originally any way. The 1.4 only uses one of the two.

Hope that helps dude. I'll get a pic of my set up so you can see exactly where stuff goes. I'll do that now.

With regards to hose sizes, I used 32mm Internal diameter large hose, and 10mm (as far as I can remember) ID small hose.

(What I'll do for the how-to is edit the pic, circle the ones I mean, and put a number next to each outlet needed, it'll be a shed load easier to understand!)

Yeah no worries. Sorry, reading back on my post it came across a little condisending. :? it's highlighted the fact the section isn't clear enough, so I'll edit the how to. :D

Here's the pic I was on about:

AHH your a bloody legend!

Thank you once again. I am prob going to buy a few cheap silicone 90 and 180 degree angles (thats why i asked the diameter), ive already got some metal pipe like what you have used. Then its just a case routing them all now i know where they all go!
